No Physical Ethernet Jacks At Location

So I’m renting a room closer to a job I’m working at about 3 hours away from my home town. The room doesn’t have any Ethernet ports to plug into and I need internet for my ESXI servers/virtual machines. I have a PC which has a Ethernet port and I’m using a Linksys USB wireless adapter. The Ethernet cord from my PC is plugged into a Cisco 3560 Series layer 3 switch for now. So how to get internet to the ESXI server? That is the issue.

The solution is to do internet sharing on the PC which was actually very simple.

  1. Go to Network and Internet settings.
  2. Click on Ethernet
  3. Click on Change adapter Options
  4. Right click on Wifi
  5. Choose Properties
  6. Click on the sharing tab
  7. Place a check mark into “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.
  8. On the drop down list be sure to choose the Ethernet port your cord is in.
  9. Make sure the devices using the shared connection have DHCP enabled.
  10. This part I don’t quite get but there is a DHCP server that starts up when sharing and the subnet it chose is 192.168.137.0 /24.
